The Guidance Center appoints new Director, Nakita Watts

The Guidance Center, a division of Volunteer Behavioral Health, has announced the appointment of a new Center Director
Nakita Watts, M.S., Ed.S, has been named Center Director for The Guidance Center. Watts is responsible for operations of The Guidance Center at its three outpatient offices located in Murfreesboro, Smyrna and Franklin. Watts brings sixteen years of counseling experience to her new position having worked as a counselor to students identified as having emotional disorders, to incarcerated inmates at Tennessee prisons, and to court ordered individuals referred from Middle Tennessee area judicial courts and probation agencies.
As an instructor at Middle Tennessee State University, Watts worked in cultural diversity for the Department of Social Work. While working with Rutherford County Juvenile Detention, Watts directed educational services and programs that focused on intervention and prevention of further juvenile delinquency for youth detainees.
The depth of experience Watts brings to her new role of Center Director for The Guidance Center will enhance the treatment and specialized services provided daily to children, adolescents and adults.
Chris Wyre, VBHCS CEO, said the skills Watts brings to her new position will “serve her well as she oversees the mental health and substance use treatment for our clients served annually at the three Guidance Center locations. Her experience with the disabled population, juveniles and the courts will help her be ever responsive to the needs of those we serve”.
