Co-Responder Crisis Intervention Specialist II: Full time position available in Gallatin. Position will be based at the Gallatin Police Department.

EXEMPLARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Respond with Gallatin Police Dept (when initiated by GPD) to provide crisis assessment, counseling, linkage and other services to persons in a mental health crisis to include alcohol and/or drug abuse problems.Respect the roles and duties of law enforcement understanding that public safety, as determined by officers on the scene, must be prioritized.Work cooperatively and communicate professionally with members of the law enforcement/CIT and healthcare team.Work face-to-face with consumers in assisting them in the resolution of their crisis and providing intervention and referrals in the least restrictive environment.Knowledge of computer skills to be able to search and enter data in the electronic record system.Respond when dispatched or to clients presenting to a Walk in Center; complete evaluations and data entry in an efficient manner to meet standards when possible.Complete all data entry according to quality management standards and procedures.Provide follow up phone calls within 24 hours to make sure follow-up instructions are understood or referrals were accepted. Participate in staff meetings, training and supervisory sessions as required.Provide a variety of social services to individual patients and their families, identifying psychiatric emergencies by providing a screening using the Global Appraisal of Individual Needs – Short Screener (GAIN-SS) and an assessment that utilizes DSM V criteria for mental illness.Identify and secure community resources that best meet the needs of the patient while providing a smooth transition from an acute care setting to an appropriate level of care.Must have solid organizational skills, be able to function independently while communicating in a professional manner with other healthcare providers, law enforcement, clients and families.Collect client information and participation data for the purposes of the grant evaluation.Drive a company or personal vehicle to do assessments, counseling, linkage and provide other services to clients in a mental health crisis. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Must have a master’s degree in the clinical field (social work, counseling or psychology), licensed preferred. Able to maintain a courteous, diplomatic, and helpful orientation. Above average assessment skills, particularly for suicidal potential and potential to harm others. Able to use good judgment and function well in pressure situations. Knowledgeable of commitment procedures. Knowledgeable of resources. Knowledge of community systems and experience in discharge planning and placement. Timely, accurate and thorough documentation of client records as well as work activities.Must maintain certification in CPR and First Aid. Certification must be completed within first 30 days of employment. Company will provide training.
