New Center Director Named for Cumberland Mental Health Lebanon and Mt. Juliet

Nathan MillerVolunteer Behavioral Health Care System announced this week the promotion of Nathan Miller to center director at the agency’s Cumberland Mental Health Center division which serves Lebanon and Mt Juliet.

Miller replaces Brenda Harper, who held the director’s post in Wilson County for 35 years.

“Brenda started as a case manager 35 years ago and worked her way up to center director for the past 12 years . Nobody worked harder or was more dedicated to our clients and our mission.” said Chis Wyre, Volunteer Behavioral Health Care System President/CEO.

A veteran of providing behavioral health care services in Middle Tennessee, Miller’s first employment with Volunteer Behavioral Health Care System was at Plateau Mental Health Center in Cookeville in 1996.

He has served in a variety of capacities for the agency, including case management and therapy.

The newly appointed director specializes in the treatment of individuals with substance use disorders and has worked closely with the Federal Department of Probation and Parole as well as the Upper Cumberland Community Drug Court.

“I am honored to have the privilege to serve these two important center locations in Wilson County.

“Our agency has been involved in Wilson County for some four decades. I think we have made a significant difference in this community and I look forward to continuing to provide a valuable array of services to benefit those who live in this service area,” Miller said.

Miller received his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Middle Tennessee State University in 1996 and his master’s degree in Educational Psychology from Tennessee Technological University in 2001.

In addition to his dedicated career, Miller enjoys several hobbies including antique automobiles and restoration of antique toys.
