Introducing Re-Entry and Recovery TN

RE-ENTRY AND RECOVERY TN

We are very excited that VBH has been awarded a grant from the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration to assist inmates in local jails reintegrate into the community. Participants in this program are inmates within four months of release who have addiction issues or have co-occurring mental illness and addictive disorders. The core evidence-based components of R&R TN include Motivational Interviewing and Illness Management and Recovery. Participants enrolling in the program will have access to an array of services to support long-term recovery. With these supports in place, participants will be less likely to return to jail and be more equipped to continue in recovery. We firmly believe that people can be successful in the community when addition and mental illness are stabilized. Recovery is real and lives can be changes.

The goal of R & R TN is to reduce the risk of returning to jail and increasing the chances of meeting their personal life goals by 1) developing a collaborative partnership between the community justice system & the behavioral health treatment system and 2) providing an array of treatment and wrap-around services after release that support relapse prevention and long-term recovery.

The R & R TN Criminal Justice Liaison can provide a bridge of services that starts in the jail and ends in the community. Services include:

  • Individual therapy using Motivational Interviewing to assist each participant in making life changes and moving towards recovery.

  • Group and individual Illness Management and Recovery which supports the participant in developing life-long recovery practices.

  • Job readiness skill development using the tenants of Supported Employment to work towards competitive employment in integrated workplace settings.

  • Individualized services to address the needs in the area of housing, food, clothing, employment, health insurance, transportation, substance abuse support, education or training, child care, and support and community network contacts.

Eight Criminal Justice Liaisons will be serving local jail systems. The counties jails served are: Bledsoe, Bradley, Cumberland, Hamilton, McMinn, Meigs, Monroe, Overton, Putnam, Rhea, Sumner, Williamson and Wilson. If you have any questions, you can contact the program manager, Randi Finger at 931-260-7844.
